Handwerks is a German word meaning “the work of the hands.” This collection features stories from skilled tradespeople across a range of fields who share what they do, how they learned, and why their work matters.
These are careers shaped by hands, guided by heart, and strengthened by mind—fields like Building, Historic Preservation, Automotive and Mechanical Work, Fine Woodworking, Traditional Arts and Crafts, and Clean Energy.
We created Handwerks to help young people explore these paths and hear directly from those who live them. The stories are personal, practical, and full of purpose.
We invite teachers, parents, and mentors to share Handwerks with students who are thinking about what comes next and looking for inspiration.
Because sometimes, hearing the right story at the right time can open a door.
