SPI's New Online Student Art Gallery

Maya, Grade 2

Showcasing the talent of young artists.

OVER THE MOONStory Preservation Initiative’s new Pop-Up Student Art Gallery is now live with an exhibit that features the work of K–8 students from Crossroads Academy in Lyme, New Hampshire. Designed as a space to share the work of young artists, Over the Moon celebrates the diverse talents and imaginative perspectives of creative kids.

For this show, Crossroads Academy students studied the works of master artists and applied their techniques to a work of their own. The result is pure magic! Exploring a variety of media, the students channeled their sense of wonder into each piece. Through their eyes, we see the world in its most vibrant and imaginative form. As you view their artwork, put on your “Art Detective Hat!” and see if you can ID the artists who inspired them.

Below (l-r) is work by Calan, Grade 2; Kingston, Grade 6; Maddy, Grade 7; Rhys, Grade 2; and Hao, Grade 7. Bravo to these young artists and ALL of the wonderfully talented students whose work is included in the exhibit.

Over the Moon is Open to All PreK-12 Students.

SPI invites PreK - 12 students from all schools, whether public, private, parochial, or homeschool associations, to join this creative endeavor! Over the Moon connects a diverse community of educators, parents, and students, inviting all to celebrate the beauty of art and foster the pride of creation.

We encourage students to depict characters and scenes or give artistic form to feelings inspired by our online collection of stories. Selected drawings submitted to SPI by teachers, parents, or school officials will be exhibited in our Over the Moon pop-up gallery space regularly throughout the school year. We welcome artists of all ages, artistic abilities, backgrounds, and geographies. It’s pretty much guaranteed that participating students will be, well - Over the Moon!

We’ll include a Call for Artists for our SPRING EXHIBIT in our March newsletter, so stay tuned! Questions? Contact us here.

About Story Preservation

Our Mission: Story Preservation Initiative believes in the transformative power of story to connect people around our common humanity and create a better future.

Our Work: We are a leading producer and online distributor of original, content-rich audio-based narratives for K-12 students. SPI stories are the raw materials of history, roadmaps to scientific discovery, and windows to the minds of artists and skilled tradesmen and women.

What We Achieve: SPI brings listeners into personal contact with extraordinary people whose stories engage their hearts and minds, imparting content knowledge and fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking as they open doors to possible career paths in professions associated with the arts, sciences, humanities, and skilled trades. We are fully open-source.

When educating the minds of our youth, we must not forget to educate their hearts.

Please consider making a tax-free donation to SPI. We are an open-source educational nonprofit dependent upon the generosity of contributors. Every bit helps us keep the stories and projects coming.
